James Street

You picture Europe and you picture street cafes, right? Or perhaps that's just me. But my entire time in London (4 months) was spent in search of the mecca of roadside restaurants, street side dining...and finally, two weeks before I left, I found it..on James Street.

Okay, so I lied about spending four straight months searching for it, but I was elated when I happened to stumble across it while dodging bustling Oxford Street traffic and tourists on my way home. I felt like I discovered a true London secret. It was five o'clock, and the road was almost impassable by vehicles due to the sprawling crowds of tireless businessmen and women pouring out onto the street with pints of ale in tow.

Each cafe effortlessly melded into the next, the only thing distinguishing territory being the change of umbrella color over the table. Tables so close that you were forced to feel at ease with your neighbors, even if they were strangers.

Sadly, I only had the chance to eat here twice - once at an incredible Tapas Bar, La Tasca and once at a Mediterranean restaurant called Mimosa.

If you get a chance to go here, chances are it will be in the summertime, which means that you must get a traditionally British, and quite delicious, Pimms and Lemonade.

And yes, it is as amazing as it looks. Try it, trust me.
